Northen Surveying Services is proud to support World Autism Awareness Day (April 2) and join in celebrating differences and working towards fostering an inclusive community.
There’s no better time to announce NSS Director Tara Northen is joining the board of directors for South Gloucestershire Community Interest Company Inclusive Change At Work.
Their next project is to establish a supported work experience programme at Your Village Shop for Autistic and other Neurodiverse young people.
Your Village Shop is an independent shop based at Extra Care Stoke Gifford Retirement Village.
Tara said: “I’m delighted to join this organisation and will support the development of a work experience programme using the shop as a learning environment to build skills for future work.”
This developed from the initial ideas of a University of Bristol Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship project NSS sponsored in 2019, which looked at ways of widening work experience opportunities in underrepresented groups.
“We’re looking for partnerships with other organisations such as schools and colleges to build a strong community-based program and inclusive work culture with practical skills for employment.”
